Genetic and DNA testing by Dr Martin Fried

Dr Fried performs services on a variety of conditions all of which can be treated individually by DNA testing. Services include Panic attacks, anxiety, depression, bipolar, obesity, overweight, autoimmune conditions as Crohn’s, colitis, celiac, thyroid, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. He also treats, Lyme, Bartonella, Mycoplasma infections as well as allergies, histamine problems, attention deficit, autism, anorexia, bulimia, food eating issues, immune system problems, SIBO, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, irritable bowel, yeast overgrowth, chronic fatigue, brain fog, memory problems, concentration problems, substance abuse and addictions.

Humour- one liner

A man goes to a housewarming party.

He turns up the thermostat then leaves.

Food Allergies, Sensitivities and histamine reactions

FOOD ALLERGIES, SENSITIVITIES

After an insult to the gut, from a bacteria, parasite, toxin, virus- the stomach and intestine become permeable (leaky gut)

During this time of a permeable gut allergies increase and may contribute to inflammation in the stomach, esophagus, intestines.

Allergy can be to food, environment such as dust, mold, and toxins

Eosinophilic esophagitis is one form of allergy found in many allergic children.

An elimination diet  helps.

The most common food allergens in children are milk, eggs, peanuts, soy, wheat, tree nuts, shellfish as shown in  Food Allergies video.

Other food allergies and asthma may be related to problems in methylation cycle.

Dr Fried can perform specialized DNA  testing related to food allergies and food sensitivities,

He can find out if you have a problem with the enzyme that is responsible for breaking down histamine as well

Meal on a Plane

It was dinner time on a British Airways flight from London to New York. As the flight attendant moved down the plane, she asked one of the passengers: “Would you like dinner?” “What are my choices?” asked the passenger. “Yes or No,” replied the attendant
You can get peanuts and a beverage these days if you are lucky.

Peanuts are not a bad choice as long as you do not have mold problems or peanut allergies.

Peanuts contain a mold toxin and can be one of the reasons for peanut intolerances.

Almost anything you order is almost guaranteed to be high in salt in order to give it taste.

I wonder if they offer a heart healthy meal plan,

I know many airlines order kosher meals and vegetarian meals.

What about a meal that is just fresh fruits and vegetables- you may not want bread or a roll if you are gluten sensitive.

I think the solution is bring your own food.

Prepare ahead of time and be prepared. I dont think they serve organic food.

I know they do not cater to picky eaters- nor do they give probiotics

They will supply the beverages.

One thing for sure, you should have a lesser risk of getting exposed to Lyme disease on the plane than on the ground.

Bon Voyage

Ethyl to Methyl, Come In Methyl

Remember those Lucy episodes- Loved Ethyl

Now to more serious business- the business of Methylation- those  little carbon and three hydrogen groups that are responsible for

New cell synthesis and repair of all cells and tissues which require DNA to build themselves, for example, bone marrow, red cells, white cells, and platelets and nerve tissues.

With problems in folic acid metabolism and methylation it is harder to overcome damage from stress on tissue because you may not produce the amount of DNA you need to do the repair.

This methylation issue is also related to heart disease and energy production as seen in chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.

Methylation is also associated with mood problems due to poor dopamine production- as seen in attention problems and other mood issues.

The methylation cycle can be investigated by a physician once certain DNA tests are ordered and it may help solve or treat autoimmune conditions, allergic reactions, environmental toxin and even aging.

Food as Medicine

The latest update to my website www.healthydays.info is the incorporation of DNA testing to determine which foods a person should eat to optimize their health. With DNA analysis it is becoming less of a game and more of a scientific endeavor to treat medical problems with foods as medicines.

For example- People with ADHD ( attention defecit hyperactivity disorder) may have too much production or a lack of breaking down of serotonin, epinephrine. This can be evaluated through DNA analysis.

Bipolar indiduals often have problems with the neurotransmitter dopamine. They might want to stay away from foods that are rich in dopamine, Learning what enzyme problems they have thru DNA testing might help provide a diet that might lead to less mood swings.

Women with recurring miscarriages may have very low activity of MTHFR enzyme and other folic acid enzymes. DNA gene analysis of saliva or blood can pinpoint the enzyme issues and lead to appropriate treatment for successful births without neural tube defects or spinal column issues.

Dopamine, Serotonin, Norepinephrine and mood

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine whereby the digestive system and its disorders are studied. Many conditions such as Crohn’s, colitis, celiac, are related to autoimmune system activation in which a leaky gut may play a role.  Other conditions such as Attention defecit, bipolar, depression, autism, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, anxiety, POTS and chronic lyme may be related to chemical metabolisms problems which may be a part of enzyme defects in the methyl cycle, folic cycle, methionine cycle, detox cycle- which occurs in numerous cells throughout the body.
Defects in certain enzymes lead to neurotransmitter problems of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin- seen in panic attacks, anxiety, attention defecit hyperactivity, parkinson,s ( a dopamine problem), Alzheimer’s ( a  possible detoxification problem in the brain associated with metals)
Chronic lyme and its associated coinfections- may be continuous activation of the immune system by live infection, chemicals elicited as a result of this infection may worsen the condition and even perpetuate the symptoms. Having a biochemical understanding of the enzymes involved – which is unique to each individual might help tailor a treatment that is for that person based on their  genes, dna, enzymes and their own response to the conditions which initiated their illness. This premise is true for other autoimmune diseases such as celiac, crohn’s colitis, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune thyroid disease
